Basic Information Of Inconel 690 Product

The following is the product specifications of Inconel alloy 690. If you need other more information, please contact us.

Description

Inconel 690 has excellent resistance to high temperature oxidation and chloride corrosion, especially in harsh environments such as those common in chemical processing, petrochemicals and power generation. The alloy maintains its mechanical properties at temperatures up to 1100°C and does not oxidize or corrode significantly at extreme temperatures. Inconel N06690 also has good mechanical strength, toughness and weldability. Its high chromium content not only provides excellent oxidation resistance, but also gives it resistance to fluoride and high temperature water vapor corrosion.

What are the features of Inconel 690?

Inconel 690 alloy offers good machinability, weldability, and excellent corrosion resistance, ensuring long-term reliability.

waste treatment industries

Excellent corrosion and high temperature resistance

  • Inconel 690, with its high chromium content, can form a dense protective film. It not only has excellent high-temperature oxidation resistance, but also exhibits outstanding resistance to stress corrosion cracking in sensitive environments such as chloride ions and caustic soda. At the same time, it has good tolerance to a variety of acids, alkalis and sulfur-containing atmospheres.

Excellent comprehensive mechanical properties

  • In the annealed state, its typical tensile strength can reach about 550-750 MPa, and its yield strength is about 260-420 MPa. At the same time, its elongation can be maintained above 25%. Therefore, the material is both strong and has a certain deformation capacity. In the medium and high temperature range of 600°C to 800°C, it can still maintain a high level of strength.

FAQ

Below are some frequently asked questions about Inconel Alloy 690. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us.

No, Inconel 625 is a non-magnetic material.
Its matrix is an austenitic nickel-chromium structure (nickel ≥ 58%, chromium 20-23%), with no ferromagnetic phase transition

Post-weld stress relief: A 1-hour hold at 300-400°C is recommended to reduce weld residual stresses, especially for thick-walled components.
Resolution treatment: If welding causes coarsening of the grains in the heat-affected zone (HAZ), resolution treatment is necessary to restore corrosion resistance.

Pickling: Removes scale and improves corrosion resistance.

Passivation: Forms a protective chromium oxide film, enhancing resistance to contamination.

Coating: Spraying a ceramic coating (such as Al₂O₃) can further enhance high-temperature oxidation resistance.

Specific analysis of the operating conditions is required. Inconel 690 performs well in oxidizing media and high-temperature, high-pressure water environments. However, it is not suitable for use in strongly reducing acid environments and may not perform as well as other alloys in certain high-temperature chloride environments. It cannot be simply considered a universal replacement; its performance must be determined based on the specific media composition, temperature, and pressure conditions.

Solution treatment: Hold at 1000-1150°C, followed by rapid cooling to achieve a uniform austenitic structure.
Aging treatment: Hold at 700-900°C for 2-10 hours to induce γ’ phase precipitation and enhance high-temperature creep resistance.
