With over a decade of industry experience, we have established a strong presence in key international markets, including Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.

Description

Hastelloy C22 is a versatile nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy renowned for its exceptional corrosion resistance across diverse aggressive environments. Unlike other nickel alloys, C22 excels in resisting pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking, even in oxidizing and reducing conditions.

It is particularly effective in environments containing chlorides, nitric acid, and mixed chemical streams. For instance, its corrosion rate in hydrochloric acid is significantly lower than similar alloys like Hastelloy C 276, making it a preferred choice for chemical reactors, heat exchangers, and scrubbers. With a tensile strength of approximately 690 MPa and high weldability, C22 offers a combination of durability and ease of fabrication, ensuring reliability in demanding industrial applications.

FAQ

Below are some frequently asked questions about Hastelloy C22. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us.

We can customize plates, tubes, bars, forgings, and wire. We can also process Hastelloy C22 into finished components such as valve cores, flanges, and agitator shafts upon request

It can withstand temperatures up to 1093°C in oxidizing environments and can operate stably up to approximately 815°C in reducing environments, making it suitable for most high-temperature industrial applications.

It is extremely resistant to localized corrosion (pitting and crevice corrosion) and stress corrosion cracking, and can withstand strong acids such as sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, as well as high chloride ion environments.

They comply with standards such as ASTM B575 (plate), ASTM B622 (pipe), and ASTM B574 (rod). In some cases, they can also meet ASME BPVC and NACE MR0175 requirements.

Hastelloy C22 is an upgraded version of C276.

  • Chemical Composition (Key Difference): C22 has a higher chromium (Cr) content (20-22.5%) and a slightly higher molybdenum (Mo) content (12.5-14.5%). C276 has a lower Cr content (14.5-16.5%) and a Mo content of 15-17%.
  • Corrosion Resistance: C22 significantly outperforms C276 in pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in oxidizing media (such as hot Fe⁺, Cu⁺⁺ brines, and hypochlorites) and in the welded state. C22 also has a wider operating temperature range.
  • Weldability: C22 offers improved weldability, exhibits less corrosion degradation in the heat-affected zone after welding, and is less prone to the precipitation of harmful phases.
