Basic Information Of Inconel 601 Pipe Product

The following is the product specifications of Alloy 601 pipe that Gnee can provide. If you need other information, please contact us for more information.

Description

Inconel 601 pipe—this high-temperature alloy tubing solution is designed for superior performance in the most demanding oxidizing and thermal cycling environments. As a nickel-chromium-iron alloy (UNS N06601/W.Nr.2.4851), with a chromium content of 23-27%, it maintains excellent stability even at continuous operating temperatures up to 2165°F (1180°C) and can withstand short-term peak temperatures exceeding 2200°F (1200°C)—making it a preferred material for critical components.

In addition to standard stock products, we can also customize Inconel 601 tube to your specific requirements:

  • Custom Sizes: Custom outer diameter, wall thickness, length (up to 20 feet/6 meters or cut to order)
  • Processing: Precision bending (small radius bending), flaring, threading, or rail welding (by certified welders)

Whether you need small-volume capillary tubes for aerospace or large-diameter radiant tubes for industrial furnaces, our Inconel 601 tubes combines superior performance with tailored support.

Features and Advantages

Inconel 601 nickel alloy seamless tubing, conforming to ASTM B163, B167, ASME SB163, SB167 N06601, exhibits good resistance to water corrosion, high mechanical strength, and ease of forming, machining, and welding. The properties of Inconel 601 2.4851 make it a widely applicable material in hot working, chemical processing, pollution control, aerospace, and power generation. However, the use of Inconel 601 2.4851 alloy in strongly reducing sulfur-containing environments is not recommended.

The characteristics of Inconel 601 nickel alloy seamless tubing 2.4851 conforming to ASTM B163, B167, ASME SB163, SB167 N06601 are as follows:

  1.  Excellent oxidation resistance at high temperatures.
  2. Good resistance to carbonization.
  3. Good oxidation resistance in sulfur atmospheres.
  4. Good mechanical properties at both room temperature and high temperatures.
  5. Good resistance to stress corrosion cracking. 601 has high creep rupture strength. Because it limits carbon content and grain size, it is recommended for use in environments above 932°F/500℃.

FAQ

Below are some frequently asked questions about Inconel 601. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us.

Inconel 600 and Inconel 601 plate are two grades of Inconel alloy. Inconel 600 is a low-carbon steel, while Inconel 601 is a high-carbon steel. Inconel 600 is used in applications requiring high strength and wear resistance, such as fasteners, machine parts, pressure vessels, and other applications requiring a low carbon content. Inconel 601 is used in applications requiring high strength and corrosion resistance, such as fasteners, machine parts, and other applications requiring a high carbon content.

You should consider Inconel 601 when your application meets one or more of the following conditions:

The operating temperature is between 800°C and 1150°C for a long period of time.
It must withstand repeated heating and cooling (thermal cycling).
The environment contains elements such as sulfur and carbon (such as carburizing atmospheres and combustion exhaust gases).
Excellent resistance to oxidative spalling is required.

In addition to its excellent high-temperature oxidation resistance, it also exhibits good resistance to a variety of corrosive media at room temperature, including:
Oxidizing acids such as nitric acid and phosphoric acid.
Fresh water, seawater, and neutral saline solutions.
However, its corrosion resistance to reducing acids (such as hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid) is poor, and its use in such environments is not recommended.
