FAQ

Below are some frequently asked questions about Inconel Alloy 625 bars. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us.

It is recommended to use tungsten inert gas welding (TIG) or metal inert gas welding (MIG). The welding wire should be ERNiCrMo-3 (niobium content 3.5%-4.5%) to match the base metal composition. During welding, the interpass temperature should be controlled to ≤150℃. The shielding gas should be pure argon (99.99%). The back side should be filled with argon to prevent oxidation and avoid embrittlement in the heat-affected zone.

Compared with 316 stainless steel, its upper temperature resistance limit is increased by more than 500℃, and it will not produce stress corrosion cracking in chloride environment; compared with Inconel 718, although its high temperature strength is slightly lower, it is less difficult to process and has better cost; compared with Hastelloy C276, it has more outstanding corrosion resistance in oxidizing media such as nitric acid, and its welding performance is more stable.

Store in a dry and ventilated environment to avoid contact with carbon steel to cause galvanic corrosion. For long-term storage (over 6 months), it is recommended to apply anti-rust oil and check regularly. If oxide scale appears on the surface, it can be restored by pickling or sandblasting.

No, it is a nickel-based superalloy.

The core difference lies in the nickel content: 625 contains ≥58% nickel, which is much higher than stainless steel (usually <36%);

Surface treatment
→ Use acetone to thoroughly clean the groove, remove oil and oxide layer
Method selection
→ TIG welding (inert gas protection) is preferred, and MIG welding can be used for thick plates

Parameter control
→ Low heat input: lower current and voltage, increase speed
→ Layer temperature: ≤150°C

Welding material matching
→ Use ERNiCrMo-3 welding wire (composition consistent with base material)
