Description

Inconel 718 Bar is a high-strength, corrosion-resistant nickel-chromium alloy designed for use in extreme environments. Composed primarily of nickel (50-55%) and chromium (17-21%), Inconel 718 offers exceptional mechanical properties at elevated temperatures and high resistance to oxidation and corrosion.

It maintains its strength up to 700°C (1292°F), making it ideal for aerospace, power generation, and chemical processing industries. The alloy also exhibits excellent weldability and is often used in the production of turbine blades, gas turbines, and structural components in jet engines. Other names for Inconel 718 Bar include UNS N07718, and it is widely recognized for its ability to withstand harsh conditions without compromising performance.

FAQ

In a continuous high temperature environment, the long-term use temperature of Inconel 718 bars can usually reach 1202~1292°F(650~700℃); the short-term peak temperature can withstand about 1202~1292°F(800℃). Beyond this range, its strength and oxidation resistance will gradually decrease.

It is difficult to machine. Due to its high temperature strength, easy work hardening during machining, and poor thermal conductivity of the material (about 1/3 of steel), heat is easily concentrated on the tool edge during cutting, causing rapid tool wear. It is necessary to use carbide or ceramic tools, adopt a low speed and high feed rate process, and use cooling lubricants to reduce friction and heat.

Inconel 718, with its nickel-chromium-based high-temperature alloy characteristics, can still maintain a yield strength of ≥620MPa at 650°C, while the strength of 304 stainless steel has been reduced by 50% at 300°C; at the same time, the resistance of 718 alloy to chloride stress corrosion cracking (SCC) far exceeds that of 316 stainless steel, and it is especially suitable for acidic oil and gas environments. Its core advantage comes from the γ” strengthening phase formed by the addition of Nb (niobium), which needs to be treated by aging hardening to meet the requirements of ASTM B637 standards. This is a strengthening mechanism that ordinary stainless steel does not have.

Delivery times vary depending on the order size and customization requirements. Standard orders typically take 30-50 business days, 7 days for stock goods, while custom or bulk orders may take longer.
